Casino Cinema

Located in Saint-Quentin in the Province of Picardy northeast France. The Casino Cinema was opened on 29th June 1929. It was designed by architect Adolphe Grisel and on each side at the top of the facade are huge stone-carved faces depicting ‘Comedy’ and ‘Tragedy’. The cinema boasted a cafe, bar and garage as its facilites. It was closed in 1970 and was converted into retail use.

The cinema was severely damaged by a fire in 2007. It has been repaired and is back in retail use in 2017. The two stone faces are currently wrapped in netting to prevent them from falling into the street.
