D&S Amusements opened the Iowan Theatre at the wrong time. The 425-seat theatre launched on December 23, 1950. The theatre closed briefly on May 15, 1951 and then reopened briefly closing for good in October of 1951 after less than a year of operation. The Iowan Theatre was converted for commercial purposes in January of 1952 becoming a multi-business arcade.
