When the Oak Theatre was destroyed by a fire in 1942, the village of Roanoke was without a movie theater until Martin Moritz and B. H. Huschen opened the Roanoke Theatre on December 6, 1946. Moritz bought out his partner’s share in the theatre in early-1947. The Roanoke Theatre closed in 1958 and was dismantled the following year.
