Located in the Fort Pienc section of the city centre on Gran Via de les Corts Cartalanes and Calle Lepanto. The Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes is one of the major roads in the city. Over the years it has hosted four cinemas with the ‘Gran Via’ name, all at different address’s.
This Cine Gran Via was the fourth one to operate and it opened in 1932 as the Cine Cortes. It was closed in 1937 due to the activities of the Spanish Civil War.
It re-opened following a remodel as the Cine Gran Via on 10th October 1947 and closed on 8th May 1966 with the Spanish/Argentinean film “La Boda” & the Italian comedy “El Millon de Dolares” starring Vittorio Gassman & Joan Collins. It has since been demolished and an apartment block has been built on the site.
