The Classic Cinema opened on 1st July 1938 and was run by Sundrive Cinemas along with the Kenilworth Cinema. It had 750 seats and was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. It closed on 21st June 1976 along with the Kenilworth Cinema and the building has been a business centre since 1987 with a retail outlet in the foyer. The frontage it is pretty much unaltered. The manager, Albert Kelly, went on to rent and later own the company’s Kenilworth Cinema at Harold’s Cross.
