AMC Madison Yards 8

Opened in 2020 in the Madison Yards development on Memorial Drive near Moreland Avenue in the Reynoldstown / Cabbage Town area of southeast Atlanta.

In 1963 a new first run theatre, the Atlantic Theatre opened about a mile east of this location. It lasted less than five years as the neighborhood went downhill fast (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). If you wait long enough almost any neighborhood inside I-285 will rebound, and now almost 60 years later this area is a hot spot in the intown redevelopment of southeast Atlanta.

It has been a long time since a new theatre opened in Atlanta with as few as eight screens.
