Opened as the Bijou Theatre in or around 1909, this was one of the first African-American owned theatres in the Jacksonville area. The venue started out as a vaudeville house, with it’s own stock company, and later added movies to it’s offerings. The theatre closed around 1930 and the building was eventually demolished.
