A small shopping center, as well as several buildings, now vacant, that once occupied a flea market/farmer’s market, occupy the site of the Cloverleaf Drive-In now. I also remember that the last year the Cloverleaf was in business (1984), the owners, who became born again Christians, started showing Christian-themed films, with free admission, and a freewill offering made at the concession stand.
Earlier, there was controversy regarding the Cloverleaf, mainly over the showing of R-rated films in full view of the road…the screen at the old Cloverleaf was fully visible from Canal, Granger, and Warner Roads, and many parents had to sheild their kids' eyes from the screen while they drove past the drive-in.
However, the Christian films lasted only one season, and the Cloverleaf closed for good by the fall of 1984.

Columbus still has a Free Christian Drive-In. It has been running for at least 35 summers, and is a unique operation that deserves its own entry here.
Thank Goodness the Big Boy is still accross the street!. Remember the back of the screen was a huge clock with Coke Bottles for hands?
My fondest memory was seeing “Night of the Living Dead” with a date and my 11-year-old sister in the back seat—turning around and grabbing and nibbling her arm at just the right moment during that film. I’m sure she remembers, though perhaps not so fondly!
In 1975 the Cloverleaf Drive-In had a capacity for 700 cars.
