Not to be confused with the Residenz Kino in the city centre (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). This Residenz-Theater is located in the Dohren-Wulfel district to the south of the city. It opened on 22nd April 1955 with “Madchenjahre einer Konigin” (in English Girls Years Energy Queen). Known locally as a ‘Resi’ it was designed in a sleek Streamline Moderne style by architect Kurt Rietdorf. All seats were on a single sloping floor. The Residenz-Theater was closed on 1st January 1968. It has been converted into a supermarket, which in 2023 is operated by Centik.
