The Lux Theatre opened its doors on June 17, 1949 with Randolph Scott in “Coroner Creek” along with the first chapter of “Tex Granger: Midnight Rider of the Plains” starring Robert Kellard, and an unnamed Three Stooges comedy. It was first owned-and-operated by Vincent G. Milavich, and the husband-and-wife team of Robert and Lacy Ragan.
Construction of the $20,000 building started in 1947, and the theatre faces Main Street with a 50ft frontage and depth of 90ft. The building is one story with basement and concrete floor, wood sash, and doors, celetox ceiling, forced air heating system, and a then-modern front ticket booth.
The Lux Theatre closed for the final time on August 14, 1960 with David Niven in “Happy Anniversary” along with a cartoon.
