Saw this theatre 2 weeks ago on a bike trip. I like it, it doesn’t look run-down and there’s now an H&R Block on the ground floor.
Walter Reade, Inc. put the Warren Theatre up for sale in an “Absolute Auction” on the premises on August 6th, 1957, according to an ad in The New York Times on 7/17/57. I don’t know if it sold. The property was described as a “2 sty brick building with glass front on plot 50' X 120'…Excellent for Food or 5&10 Chain or any Retail Operation. Adjoining land available. Adjacent to Grand Union and First National Super Markets.”
I fall asleep in the movies all the time, atleast this time they have a mattress for me.
So Warren, was this your own personal theatre?
The 1943 Film Daily Year Book lists six theatres for Hudson, NY. At the time, only three were open: the 600-seat Warren, the 1,500-seat Community, and the 250-seat Star. Listed as closed were the 450-seat Park, the 900-seat Playhouse, and the 275-seat Strand. I cannot swear to the accuracy of any of that information.
The theater might be gone, but the name remains the same. The motel is called the Warren Inn. If your in the area and need a room:
