What is the evidence for listing this as the Sands Point Cinema? When it first opened in October, 1962, it was advertised and reported in The New York Times as the Sands Point Theatre. Built at a cost of $300,000, the theatre had 600 seats and was situated in the Sound View Shopping Center on Shore Road, apparently near the posh community of Sands Point, which is on the tip of the Port Washington peninsula.
A report in The New York Times said that the Sands Point was equipped for both 35mm and 70mm projection. The theatre was owned and operated by Adolph Herman. The NYT claimed that Herman ran three additional theatres, but did not name them or their locations. Here’s an opening ad for the Sands Point:

There seems to be a “new” multiplex in Port Washington called the Clearview Soundview 6, which has yet to be listed at this website. I’m wondering if it is this theatre or a replacement for it, since the Sands Point was situated in the Sound View shoppping center.
This theatre was apparently demolished or converted into the Clearview Soundview 6, which has an advertised address of 7-9 Soundview Marketplace, Shore Road, Port Washington, NY 10050. I suspect that Soundview Marketplace is the current name for what was originally called the Sound View Shopping Center.
Warren is correct. The Clearview Soundview Cinemas is at the location of the former Sands Point Theatre, which was closed for a number years before it was replaced by the current multiplex.
This movie theater is set to close on September 27th 2010. The last movie will be Going the Distance at 7:30 pm on Sunday the 26th.

Hopefully it will be replaced by another chain eventually…………When the economy gets better.
The alternative Main St. theater isn’t that good. It’s a dated complex.The Soundview screens were better in general (in regard to sightlines).
I believe that Sands Point is now an incorporated village of its own, and not part of adjacent Port Washington. The address should be Sands Point, NY, with “Port Washington” deleted.
The address is wrong in that it is the one for the now defunct (but maybe reopening) Soundview Cinemas. The old Sands Point occupied pretty much the same site but the Market Place address was not in effect at that time.
