The Bozeman Opera House was opened in 1890. In 1897 it began screening movies. On March 15, 1916 it was renamed Municipal Theatre. It was renamed Rialto Theatre on December 10, 1921. Rialto Theater was the lesser known of downtown Bozeman’s two movie houses (the nearby El1Bozeman Film Festival.
The Rialto Theater was closed in fall of 2005.

It’s been listed as open since at least 1941. The seating capacity given is 375.
My company, StereoVision Systems used to supply
the Rialto with 3D projection optics during the 1980’s.
They ran the classics “House of Wax” etc. and some of
the newer titles such as “Friday the 13th, part III.
I’d like to find another theatre in Bozeman with a
silver screen so that they could offer 3D to the
community, again.
Originally opened as the Bozeman Opera House in 1890, this historic venue started showing movies in 1897. It changed its name to the Municipal Theatre in March 1916 and then to Rialto in December 1921. It operated under Excellence Theatres and Carmike Cinemas from 1988 to 2005, when it closed its doors.
