The Texas was one of six theatres that was located in downtown Big Spring. The Texas was one of the smaller theatres having 316-seats. It had only been open a short which when it was damaged by a projection box fire on April 25, 1945.
The theatre did have a small stage and stage house. The building is a single floor located at the corner of E. Third Street and North Runnels Street.
The theatre closed in 1954 and looking at the front it shows no signs that it was ever a movie theatre. When you look down the side of the building along Runnels you can see where the exit doors once were but bricked in and the old stage house.

Once damaged by a fire on April 25, 1945 caused by the projection booth, only one injury was reported after a man suffered minor burns.
