The Sandy Starships Theater opened December 1980. It was a four-screen theater in a strip-mall in Sandy, Utah. The theater had a futuristic design, as if it were a spaceship, and even had a robot mascot. The Sandy Starships theater closed after its 20-year lease expired in November 2000.

This was one of two theatres that Starship had in the Valley. The other was known as the Olympus. The Sandy Starship was originally a second run house and later a dollar theatre. Cnemark built a 7 screen right next door and later added two screens. The decline for both theatres was when the Megaplex as Jordons Commons opened. It was a 17 screen. At that time both theatres became Dollar Theatres.
The Cinemark Movies 9 is still open as a Bargain house 1.00 Matinees and 1.50 evenings.

I remember there being three Starships: Sandy, Olympus Cove, and one at Valley Fair Mall that later became a Cinemark dollar house.
