Westfield Hawthorn Mall expansion plan includes movie theater
VERNON HILL, IL — A new addition to the Hawthorn Mall has a 12-screen theater as its centerpiece. Local officials are still mulling over the plans and Westfield is not at liberty to mention the potential operator.

Petoskey to conduct downtown theater study
PETOSKEY, MI — Without a downtown cinema since the Gaslight closed ten years ago, Petoskey is looking at the feasibility of bringing one back. With help from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Rural Business Enterprise Grants program, they’re researching whether their robust downtown along with potential additional parking could support a theater.

Coming soon: A silver screen for Bethel, Alaska
BETHEL, AK — This remote Alaska town, nearly 400 miles west of Anchorage is to get a new twin theater. The town has hardly any road access and has not had a cinema in decades but they will be getting a new theater with stadium seating in two years.

Las Cruces-based, NM Allen Theatres buys two cinemas in Durango
DURANGO, CO — Allen Theatres has purchased the Stadium 9 and Gaslight Twin. They plan to upgrade the facilities and have already lowered the prices.

New small theater may be built on the site of demolished Warwick theater
MARBLEHEAD, MA — A new theater built on the footprint of the former Warwick Cinemas could be coming soon. It would be a two-screen theater, part of a larger retail complex on the site.
