Pavilion Cinemas to reopen next week
NAPLES, FL — Following a nearly $3 million upgrade, the Pavilion Cinemas will reopen on May 1. The new theatre will offer all reserved seating and a full menu. Not bad for a theatre that opened in 1984.

Condos proposed for Mamaroneck movie theater
MAMARONECK, NY — The Mamaroneck Playhouse quietly closed last weekend with no firm plans on its future. It’s Bow Tie’s preference to sell the property to a developer that would put housing units there. How many original features would remain is in question though.

Marley Station to reopen
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Following a closure earlier this year, the Marley Station theater will reopen this summer, now under the operation of Horizon Cinemas. Plans call for new seats, concessions, projection and more. It will reopen in phases with four theaters to start.

ReRun charms crowds once more
BROOKLYN, NY — The ReRun Theater has reopened and plans to get back to a regular slate of indie flicks. The gastropub offerings and neighborhood feel fit right in with the growing media presence in the area.

Ken Cinema to close?
SAN DIEGO, CA — Landmark has announced they’re not renewing their lease on the Ken Cinema which expires at the end of the month. Without digital projection, the future of the site is unclear. The art house favorite has been open since 1947.

West Rome Drive-in closes
ROME, NY — The plan was to keep the drive-in open but changing technology and lagging sales spelled the end for the West Rome Drive-In. The 60+ year-old cinema will not reopen this summer and there is no word on the future of the site.

Brooklyn Heights lives to see another day
BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Heights Cinema sent out a plea two months ago to raise funds for a digital projector. Facing closure, the fans came through and raised over $30K through a campaign on Indiegogo. While they still may need to move sometime soon, the operator is committed to keeping the operation going somewhere.

Uptown Theatre reopening with music, movies and more
MARBLE FALLS, TX — The Uptown Theater has had its fair share of ups and downs as it’s attempted to keep up with the trends of the business. It reopened the other week and they will now feature a variety of live entertainment from musical acts to comedy. Movies will still have a place there along with some new signature cocktails.
