There are new owners for the drive in, Chip and Brandi McFerrin. They will officially take over the operations at the beginning of April. The drive in will be celebrating its 75th anniversary this year also.
After talking to some local people in town, the old concession building stood until the mid 2000’s when it was torn down. The foundation is still visible behind the funeral home.
Unless you knew a drive in was ever at this location, you would not know from driving by the location today. The property had been shredded and cleaned up.
Drive in property listed for sale at $4,680,086 on 31.6 acres. In the description part of flyer it says, “that a convenience store is planned for the corner beside the subject property. Area is ripe for development.”
Their website says they shut down this address location on July 3rd to prepare their next flagship location. They have a second location at 300 San Antonio St., Austin Tx., rooftop of parking garage. It’s describes it as an outdoor movie viewing without sitting in your car. A walk-in type amphitheater screen.

Went by the Tower late last year, the only changes are more weeds growing taller and junk being dumped in front of tower laying on the ground.
The property is still an empty field with no development on it.
From the “Show Up Big Country” Facebook page, they stated that the drive in has been put up for sale.

The Roxy theater is closed.
There is a sign on the property saying future home of the Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church, but the sign has been there for a few years.
An industrial park has been built on the old drive in theater property.
In 2021 a Prep School campus was built on part of the drive in property. The rest of property is still for sale.
