Seems like the NEW OWNERS don’t care from what I read Above,Then why on Earth would you want to buy a Theatre only to run folks off; it is a sad statement if above posts are true,Heck it is probably closed now.
I would have been Fired had I ever thought of doing that, this had to be a mom and pop operation.I know Plitt or GCC wouldn’t have done such a thing. Heck, i have played movies for one person at a 9:30 showing on a Wednesday night on the Seventh week of a opening.Never would have entered my head to do that.
Russell, I have a GCC wooden crate i found I think at Georgia Square Mall. I don’t think I found it at Regency because you were there before me and I am sure you would have spotted it in our small Stock room.At a yard sell I guess ten years ago, i bought a GCC Directors Chair for Five dollars, the guy selling said he worked for GCC i think in Atlanta. Those GCC t-shirts are looking better every time i punch them in.
Russell, I have to say I enjoyed ABC/PLITT THEATRES more.Because it was mostly playtime,Oh,heck yeah I did count candy and do weekly reports,Couldn’t do the ads, our City Manager would only do that.By the Time I got to GCC it was a real job.None of this coming into work thirty minutes before showtime like we did at Plitt. It blew my mind to see you guys coming in at 10 am,HOURS before Show time and Work. But I tell you GCC will always be close to me. I met the mom of my four kids there.A fanastic Boss that would actully listen and want advice on films. And finding you and Barry there was also helpful especially with the rise of COMPUTERS on the way.I found two old projectionists there,Chuck and Paul that I had at Plitt. Our Midnight Shows I was most proud of because like ABC/Plitt I was asked by the manager on what films to play; some Zack used, some they couldn’t get the prints on. I could have gone without being called Mr.Rogers,Mike would have find for this longhaired Theatre Dawg.
Geez,Chuck.Once again Owners renaming DRIVE-INS.I almost hate to submit them.In 1956 in my now famous 1956 Motion Picture Almanac i have three Drive-ins there: HITCHING POST,HI-WAY 601 Drive-in,and Salisbury Drive-in.Two that are different from what you have.
Not listed in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac, could be listed by another nearby city?
i have it parking 450 cars in 1956, it owned by William Forman as mentioned above by Katiemac.
