The Kilgore Drive-In was located south of town on Highway 259. It was opened on August 12, 1950 with Doris Day in “It’s a Great Feeling”. It was operated by Liggett N. Crim & East Texas Theatres Inc. By 1952 it was operated by by Julius M. Gordon of Jefferson Amusement Co. an affiliate of United Paramount Theatres. The Kilgore Drive-In was closed in 1975.
Everything has been demolished except for the marquee which has been restored. The empty lot went back to nature, but in recent years two schools have been built on the site.
