This opened on May 20th, 1998. Grand opening ad in the photo section. Two theatres of the same design were built in Suburban Toronto (now with Landmark and Cineplex).

The City Directory is WRONG! This theater opened in the spring of 1998 – see the link below for a brief snippet from the Virginian-Pilot on the opening:
