Located at the intersection of Independence Boulevard at Sam Newell Road, this opened August 4, 1995 as the Movies 10 at Matthews. It was the second discount movie house to operate in the greater Charlotte area, and the first under the operations of Cinemark Theatres who owned and operates several here in North Carolina (Greensboro, Asheboro, and Salisbury just to name a few).
It was closed by Cinemark in August 2015 when the lease expired. It was taken over by Carolina Cinemas and reopened September 11, 2015. Carolina Cinemas were taken over by Cinemark and it reopened under their brand on May 25, 2016. It was closed on March 17, 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. It was announced in June 2020 that the cinema would be permanently closed. It had been demolished by summer of 2023.

Cinemark’s website is showing this theatre is permanently closed. Last day of operation was 3/17/2020.
I drove by this location a few days ago and it has been demolished. The entire parking lot is a sea of Teslas.
