Built as the first Jerry Lewis twin screener, it never opened as a Jerry Lewis Cinema. JoMor Theatres opened it April 5, 1974 as the JoMor Westgate in the now floundering Westgate Mall in Gates, suburban Rochester.
Loew’s Theatres bought this theatre in 1981 because they wanted the JoMor Towne theatre near the U of R. The deal said Loew’s had to buy the Westgate if they wanted the Towne. JoMor was trying to tighten up its operation.
The theatre was actually pretty nice but often showed the less prestigous flicks of the day. It was closed November 23, 1992.
It’s now a Starbuck’s Coffee and Aspen Dental Care office. Looks nothing like it did originally.
