The Paramount Theatre was opened by Saenger Amusements on May 2, 1917. The theater was remodeled in 1920 by Southern Amusements, reopening on September 21, 1920 with Katherine McDonald in “The Notorious Miss Lisle. Seating was listed at 600. It had been equipped with a Smith-Unified pipe organ which was opened by organist Mr. H.W. Doolittle. The theatre was closed by Gulf States Theatres on January 31, 1979 with Tim Conway in "They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way”. It has since been demolished and the site is now a parking lot.

According to this list, architect John M. Gabriel designed alterations of the Paramount Theatre at Lake Charles for the Southern Amusement Company in 1950 and 1951.
