According to a history of Carlsbad theaters in the Current Argus, the Big Sky Drive-In was open from 1960 to 1980. Ray Bartlett noted that he took it over from Charlie Wolfe in the early-1970’s.
Wal-Mart occupies the site today.

The 1964 International Motion Picture Almanac shows the Big Sky Drive-In located in Carlsbad, NM with parking for 800 cars.
