Sci-Fi Film Fest at Lafayette Theatre, September 10-12!

SUFFERN, NY — The following email was sent in by Pete Apruzzese, Director of Film Programming for the Big Screen Classics series at the Lafayette Theatre:

“The Big Event starts tonight and continues through Sunday. Tickets will be on sale at the box office beginning approximately one hour before each show – plenty of seats remain for every film, so come on out!

Details:

SPECTACULAR SCIENCE FICTION presents nine unique and entertaining science fiction films from the Golden Age of Hollywood, all on the Lafayette Theatre’s giant silver screen.

You will see films from directors such as Stanley Kubrick, special effects artists such as Ray Harryhausen, and stars such as Charlton Heston, Leslie Nielsen, Patricia Neal, Kevin McCarthy, and even Abbott & Costello! There will be personal appearances by several stars of the films – Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, Linda Harrison, and Joan Weldon – details are below. We will also have a display of rare science fiction movie posters.

All of these films are shown in the finest prints available from the studio vaults – you won’t see or hear them better anywhere! Every show will be preceded by organ music on the Lafayette’s Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ.

7:15 pm – FORBIDDEN PLANET
10:00 pm – THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN – plus a BONUS PROGRAM: “TRAILERTHON” – a selection of rare and classic science fiction coming attraction trailers.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
12:45 pm – ABBOTT & COSTELLO GO TO MARS – Special Family Matinee with vintage short subjects!
3:30 pm – PLANET OF THE APES (1968) – Actress LINDA HARRISON (“Nova”) in-person, introducing the film and participating in an audience Q & A after the show!
7:15 pm – Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY – Actors KEIR DULLEA & GARY LOCKWOOD in-person, introducing the film and participating in an audience Q & A after the show!
