Processor problems

posted by popcornn on February 6, 2009 at 10:35 am

I have a CP-55 that for some reason is producing ‘pops’ and ‘clicks’ once in a while for no reason. This happens in all formats including ‘non sync’ when we are running a cd player with background music…all speakers are affected including surround speakers….it doesn’t happen all the time…just when it wants to..even when the shows are on…it sounds like an occasional ‘thump’. Any ideas as to which card is dying?

Also, if anyone has a CP500, 650 or CP65 and DA20 for sale, please let me know!
Thanks.

It is a grounding problem probably caused by a jaxlight (red light sound reader). Look for any nearby dimmers or flourescent light fixtures (usually cause a hum)

I have run into these problems before also. The remedy I used was to turn the processor off, pull out all the cards. Then, use a NEW pencil eraser and gently go over the contacts on the rear of the card. May also be a grounding problem but grounding problems usually produce constant buzzing sounds. If in fact a card is failing, you may be better off replacing the processor all together.
