RIP Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011)
One of the greatest Hollywod movie stars to grace the silver screen during the Golden era of Hollywood as well as the last few decades of the 20th century has died. Elizabeth Taylor, best known for playing Cleopatra in the first big-budget movie of the 1960’s, Cleopatra, drew moviegoers to her acting and sex appeal. Not only did she star in many movies, but she was an activist against AIDS and HIV. During the making of Cleopatra, it was said that Ms. Taylor and Richard Burton, who played Cleo’s love interest, fell in love, adding tension to the hype that was the first major box office bomb to gain press, and nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox.
