May is Preservation Month – The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) encourages organizations like Cinema Treasures, Theatre Historical Society of America, Main Streets, and preservation enthusiasts like you to showcase how we celebrate historic places and the theatres we love.

What can you do to celebrate Preservation Month? Get your camera and head to the nearest historic theatre!

For the last seven years the NTHP ‘This Place Matters’ campaign has featured stories of historic places around America. Download a PDF of the 2015 ‘This Place Matters’ sign here: http://www.preservationnation.org/preservation-month/

Visit your favorite historic theatre for a great photo, then share your photos using #ThisPlaceMatters. You can post them on the Cinema Treasures and Theatre Historical Society Facebook page or tweet them to us.

indeed, that’s a great way of celebrating the preservation day. still, sometimes i feel that human needs may overthrow the feeling of having to preserve what our ancestors have left us. recently when writing a report for writepaperforme.org I came across a piece on how in some cities, e.g. Alexandria, historic houses were destroyed and instead of them affordable housing were built. to me that’s horrendous !!
