Celebrating 25 Years of Cinema Treasures

This month marks a major milestone for Cinema Treasures: our 25th year of documenting, preserving, and celebrating movie theaters around the world.

What began as a small passion project has grown into a living database shaped by movie theater lovers from around the globe. Together, you’ve helped document tens of thousands of movie theaters, from the smallest neighborhood theaters to the grandest movie palaces, ensuring that these cultural landmarks are remembered long after the lights dim.

Cinema Treasures has become a true celebration of movie theaters and the communal experience of going to the movies, especially at a time when so many theaters are at risk of being lost forever.

We would also like to give our heartfelt thanks to Ken Roe, our long-time theater editor, who has devoted more than two decades to keeping the Cinema Treasures database updated.

And, lastly, as we look ahead to celebrating our anniversary year throughout 2026, we’re also excited to start a new chapter for Cinema Treasures, and we’ll be sharing more about our plans with you soon.
