Don’t forget when Cinarama left Philly it later came to the Keswick. The 35mm projectors were taken out and the 3 system cinarama was installed.

The 61st Street Drive-in was built to handle the over flow from the Airport D-I. The Airport D-I was so busy on the W/Es it would turn away cars. Soooooo thats why the 661st was built.

I operated this and several other drive-ins for Budco Theaters. It was owned by Norris amusement chain from Norristown. They owned several indoor theaters in Norristown. They also owned the Valley Forge D-I in King of Prussia also a large D-I It was sad to see them go!

I’m thinking of bring back the Bucks County D-I for ONE night. I operate a compny the supplies inflatable movie screens. For one night ONLY on the Lowes parking lot (the spot the orig screen sat) putting up my screen w/ FM sound. What do you think? It would take some work and approal from Lowes (good luck with that) and the Twp.If you are interested in helping contact me:
Can this work, only with help. Can not do it alone. Ray

As an old film collector it was hard for me to make the move to DVD. If you have the budget to do it right make the move to video. Buy a good pj, screen and audio system. In the long run it will pay off and the bottom line you viewers will be very with the presentation. rg

Is the moving and storage co. still the owner of the building. Many years ago the owner gave me a tour again you must use the loading dock doors to get auditorium. He took the time to show me the entire building. What a great theatre it once was. When it was open my buddie and go to this theatre along with the others on Germantown Ave and the one ones on Chelton Ave. As a kid my grandmother ran the Chelten theatre one of the small houses in the area. rg

Still no activity and the lobby is empty. The center must be out of business. The video store th the left of the theatre built a small screening room and shows movies. I guess it would cost to much to do it at the center. rg
