Architect Erle Stillwell was born in Missouri ,but raised in Hendersonville.The Depression of the 30’s began a big collapse in his career,It was designing Movie Theatres in North and South Carolina,Alabama and Tennessee that saved his career designing 60 Theatres in this region.
Orr also added that the projectionist at the time the late Raymond Clouse let his daughter in the booth to watch “JAILHOUSE ROCK”.Other Employees on an old time card are Richard Waters and Joe Orr.

Word is this Theatre might reopen,[Flat Rock Cinema]it is located in Flat Rock,N.C. The owner is thinking about Moving back into the Skyland Arts Theatre.
So they closed a nice Jerry Lewis Theatre to peddle TRASH..Smart.Lame excuse.
It parked 410 cars and was owned in 1956 by Herbert Jones.

Seats 400 . named after Shelby’s Favorite Music son.The State sat vacant for 30 years before locals decided to save it.
This is a Erle Stillwell designed Theatre.One of a few left.
A lot of Stillwell’s Theatres fell under the Paramount Banner in the Southeast.

Thanks Mike, TV certainly killed alot of small town Theatres and that is too bad when one sees what TV has become.
Too bad the old building could not be saved, Ten Screens were added in a new theatre in a new location,wouldn’t surprize me if it had already closed.
