davidcoppock commented about Moe Fairsky Drive-In on Apr 11, 2016 at 1:30 am

The Moe Fairsky Drive-in had a fog screen(possibly unique?), used if the main screen could not be seen in the fog, they showed the film or films on a screen on top of the snack bar.

davidcoppock commented about Capitol Cinema Centre 3 on Apr 7, 2016 at 11:43 pm

The Capitol Cinema 3 was built on the former site of the Palais-De-Dance(date of unknown?), which burnt down due an electical fault next door in the Mansions Hotel and Mansions Theatre(on the stage) on 23/2/1929. The remains of the Palais-De-Dance were demolished, and the Capitol Theatre in it’s place.

The Doncaster Drive-in was on Bulleen Street. The entrance was on Greenway Street, and the exit on Bulleen Street( almost opposite Avon Street). The Ramps and entrance and exit roads are still there, and also the ruins of the snack bar(and bio box?). There was plans to reopen the drive-in in(1991 or 1992?).

The ramps(and entrance/exit roads?),and ticket booth, and Concession building and projection building(original building on top of concession building) is still there! unknown if the second projection building(for the second screen) is still there? The screens and speaker posts(and speakers) are gone? The drive-in site has a local heritage listing? The drive-in site was originally an orchard(unknown what was grown there?), the orchardist(name unknown?) remained in his on the drive-in property as a caretaker until after the drive-in closed, his house was demolished after he died(sometime in the 1990’s or 2000’s?).

davidcoppock commented about Dromana 3 Drive-In on Apr 6, 2016 at 12:15 am

The 485 Cars capacity was the opening capacity of the Dromana Drive-in, capacity of the 3 drive-ins area now is unknown!? The second screen came from the former Altona Drive-in ten years after it closed in 1992. date of screen unknown? There is now an Deckchair Cinema(picture gardens) as well! There is also an outdoor market on the Dromana Drive-in(www.drivein.net.au) part of the year as well! One of the screens can seen from the entrance on Nepean Highway, and another screen can be seen(just!) from Mornington Penensula Freeway, going south, looking left(behind the Dromana Holiday Village), just before the turn off foe Nepean Highway. The Whole Droma Drive-in is visable from Google Earth!
