The Paramount Ballroom opened on 14th December,1933,and the ballroom building did not had a cinema.

The theatre was situated on Avenue Edward VII.

Recently,the Shanghai Cultural Hall underwent restoration and the theatre building was moved backward from the thorougfare.

The[new]Grand Theatre opened on 14th June,1933,and the opening film was “My Weakness”.Earphone[Sinophone] system was inaugurated on 4th November,1939 for the benefit of those who could not understand English.Patrons who hired an earphone could heard simultaneous Mandarin translation of the English dialogue.

Recently,the theatre underwent massive redorcation.

The new Queen’s Theatre have been converted into a mini theatre about ten years ago with the balcony remains as a theatre and the stall area have been converted into a Japanese restaurant.The seating capacity of the mini Queen’s Theatre is 303.

The other famous films I saw at this theatre includes “The Battle at Bulge”[70mm version],“The Wild Bunch”[70mm version],“The Great Race”[70mm version],“Woodstock”,“It’s a Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World”,“The Great Escape” and “The Godfather”.
