Yes, this was the very first new twin theatre in America when owned by the Rogoff chain. And the mass media still wrongly states that AMC built the first twin theater. General Cinema was doing it also back then.
Maybe a building permit has been filed by the new operators for renovation work. Or possibly the shopping center owners or management company, or local media may have some info. Wonder why Bow Tie did not renew their lease???
Good posting above and GCC’s other problem was that they were stuck in leases for theaters that became obsolete when other chains like National Amusements started multiplexing…

Excellent information above, but in some court cases,way back in the 1960’s, the courts ruled that splits were illegal. I had seen articles about them in the online issues of Boxoffice magazine.
Were tracks and splits basically the same thing as clearances which are now under the Justice Dept radar. ???
Spoke to a National Amusements Managing Director who said the their schedule is supposed to be a 50 hour week, but usually ends up being 60 hours. An assistant manager in the same theater told me he worked a double shift from 9AM to 1AM in one day. Divide these hours by their salaries and it must be quite pitiful. The typical working hours in these multiplexes are worse than ever…imagine a female manager locking up at 3:30 AM as is the case now..
Was your projectionist local the branch based out of Mount Vernon and operated Bobby Dente back then?? That local controlled Westchester County, NY. Still cannot believe it was somehow dissolved during the advent of multiplexes.
Heard they are installing recliners in one auditorium. Not sure if they will expand this to additional auditoriums at this time, guessing they will see how the public embraces it, which is likely. They love it at Regal New Rochelle which also advertises their recliners on 107.5 FM.
Yes, at some point, the theater will close and be demolished to make way for an Audi dealership. The theater chain still has it’s lease to sub lease out.

This theater is closing soon. They are proposing construction of an Audi dealership on this property with the ttheater to be demolished. The town of Mout Pleasant has it under review.
So, the ceiling caved in and they decided to totally abandon this theater??? Or maybe was the coming of Regal nearby more of what influenced their decision to not re open??? They own the property so why not re open the theater until Regal opens up instead of earning no money and paying real estate taxes??? Same situation with the Whitestone, Bronx location. Vacant for three years and the planned outlet mall is still not open…but supposedly the NYC Health Dept clsoed them down to due rodent infestation during one of the last major storms that pushed rats inside from the creek behind the theater..
Heard this theater just installed recliners in all auditoriums and re did the concession areas. Has anybody been there lately ??? Concourse Plaza remains closed to due the Legionnaries plague leaving this as the only theater for Bronx movie goers…
RPX is not worth the extra money. Yes, the recliners are great, but all of the other auditoriums are slowing transitioning to them. And this RPX screen is really no bigger than the two largest auditoriums in Ridge Hill, Yonkers, NY, screens 6 and 7.
This theater and it’s shopping center are temporarily closed due to the outbreak of Legionnaires disease.
But when it re opens, will the public continue to patronize it after all the Legionnaire issues ???
CORRECTION: The story appeared in the Friday, April 3 edition of www.bxtimes.com let’s hope AMC or whomever gets to open up on this site that is begging for a multiplex!!!

Because of the retail store downturn, shopping center owners are courting alternative uses such as entertainment and restaurant tenants. This has been widely written about in the Wall St Journal, so theater chains now have an advantage when negotiating leases. Anchor stores are now passé….

Correct me if mistaken, but this might have been the very first twin cinema in America, yes, before AMC claims to have done so in Kansas City.

UNCONFIRMED: Heard they may be installing recliners in screens 8 & 9. Looks like everybody needs to compete nowadays….
Thunderball opened in December of 1965, so that is when this theater would have opened, not in 1967, unless the pic belongs to another theater.
