Did an all night relief projectionist here when it was Studios 6&7 All horror bill and someone was stabbed in screen 6!

The ELECTRIC was reached via an alleyway from the High Street The auditorium being behind the shops There are a pair of gates where the hanging sign is Both the alley and the gates are there today! The auditorium was used in later years as a coach station for Surrey Motors.. and the painted screen was still on the wall There is now a Bingo club on the site

Just visible in this photo, but had been whitewashed over were the words; CONTINUOUS PERFORMANCES 2-00 TO 10.30PM ALL TALKING PICTURES

This was indeed a shop and the actual hall was in the basement Situated on the right hand corner of the entrance to Sutton Arcade The entire arcade was demolished around the mid to late 1990’s

I did relief here when it was the Kinema, and actually closed it when it was Studio 7 Projection box was very cramped and you had to go over the roof to reach the boiler house! health and safety would have a fit today!! The managers office was twice the size of a broom cupboard squashed between the ladies and gents in the circle foyer
