You can see the interior of the theater in the video in the early 1990s “Burn Hollywood Burn”

I used to like to come here in the mid nineties and they showed first run double features, not second string stuff. I had a terrible crush on the manager at the time, Conrad who was Switerland…he actually showed me the projection booth and the apartments upstairs, what a mess. Looked like no one had occupied them in 30 years. He was very kind. I never saw him after about 95' I think he went back to Switerland….just by chance if you may see this and remember the tall 16 year old girl who’s mother walked out on Interview With a Vampire, write me

The Galaxy was built on the site of the Garden Court Apartments, a luxurious complex constructed in 1916. It was eventually demolished in 1984/5.
—My mother was so horrified that they were tearing this beautiful building down, she shot an 8mm movie of the destruction, now, if i’m correct, I think it was torn down a little earlier than 84, but I could be mistaken… my mom couldn’t believe what went it’s place…what a shame that the whole galaxy building was a waste. (It really helped to close all the other theaters down on hollywood blvd. if you ask me, since that was the first multiplex in the area.) I wonder what they are going to put up instead?

It wasn’t anything special, mom dropped me off here to watch The Little Mermaid, I think she left me because she said the movie was making her sick, also saw Troop Beverly Hills here…nothing to write home about, really a dump in the late 80s. Nothing lost if it’s torn down, it was a cracker box even at the time…

Last movie I saw here was Freddy’s Dead in 3D. I also saw Cinderella that was playing here as well in the 80s. (It had it’s opening for one of the Exorcist movies (3 perhaps) I was so excited when it was restored. But the beauty of the exterior though beautiful couldn’t compare to the interior which was totally breathtaking, my heart sunk in my chest when I saw the final product at a screening of bus stop, I couldn’t believe it, it was ruined sad to say. The splendor that the interior once was, was completely lost…

I used to come here in the 80s, saw goodmorning vietnam, short circuit, pretty woman, colors, and I think big business. Usually, I saw the movies in the upstairs balcony, (where you could hear the other movies playing too) but when you saw them at the 1st floor theatre, it really was fantastic. It was so beautiful, and I remember the downstairs lobby and the decrepit bathrooms. But I really loved the theatre, I was so sad when it closed. It’s really was spectacular…

I went to see Gremlins 2 at the theatre around 1990, I think it was the last time I went, it was pretty scuzzy by that time, but not as bad as the fox which was on the opposite side of the street further east if I recall. I remember watching the movie, and if my memory serves me correctly, Hulk Hogan made an appearance in the film itself as a moviegoer in a movie theatre, I swear it looked like it was shot at the vogue…
