The Algy was/is located in the Algiers section of New Orleans on the west bank. It was a classic neighborhood theater with the classic 1940s style and projection equipment.

This vintage theater did not have air-conditioning, which was an issue in the hot and humid climate of New Orleans.

I personally toured the closed theater, and most of the projection booth was left untouched. (The two projectors were not intact, but all the other equipment was still installed.)

This property is currently being used as a studio/shop for a glass blower. This is a must see for any tour of the Algiers theater district.

Opened in the mid-1950's and closed in 1961 as a movie theatre. It was operated by United Theatres.
