The Tuxedo Theater was a silent era theater that opened as the Glenwood Theater and operated from 1912-1913. The name was then changed to the Tuxedo Theater which operated until 1915. There is no record of this theater after that date.

This theatre is listed twice in Trow’s Business Directory for 1912 Under “Moving Picture Exhibitions”, it is not listed by name but under the owner Maria Graf. In the listings for “Theatres & Places of Amusement”, it appears as the Glenwood. I can find no record after 1915 when it may have been known as “The Tuxedo”. Another Glenwood Theatre opened in 1923 (or perhaps 22) at 1475 Flatbush.
There was also a Tuxedo theater on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn and one on Jerome Ave in the Bronx. Whatever name this theater used, it was closed before 1930 since that is the date of the current building being built.
The Theatre is listed as the Tuxedo in the Motion Picture Directory 14-15. It closed shortly after that.
Lets see if I understand this. This theater should be called the Glenwood theater from 1912-1913. Then it was the Tuxedo theater from 1914-1915. If thats the case, this theater needs a new description written for it. I wonder what the building was used for from 1916 until the new building was completed in 1930.
I’ve been trying to find this theater. Thanks for adding it Ken. :)
