The Kee Theatre located on N. Main at W. Center Street opened on October 16, 1940 with Jean Arthur in 2Too Many Husbands". The auditorium roof was constructed with laminated arched wood beams. The theatre has been restored and retained much of its 1940 Art Moderne style. It is now owned and operated by a non-profit group called the Kee Civic Theatre.

Did it survive the tornado tonight? Was it damaged?
Current commercial shot in and around Kiester shows the facade of the Kee. Must be a bad commercial. Don’t remember what it was for and I’ve seen it a couple of times. Definitely had some relationship to the slang term kiester.
The commercial is for Preparation H. That’s the relationship.
I spent the night in Wells about 8 years ago, and drove out to the Kee on snowy roads. They were showing something I’d already seen, but I donated the price of a ticket, and the kindly old man who was running the place let me wander around and take a bunch of pictures. When I get them up on Flickr, I’ll share a link.
The actual opening date is October 16, 1940 with Jean Arthur in “Too Many Husbands” (unknown if extras added)
