Great movies, food and spirits. The highest rated movie theater in Raleigh (News & Observer). Operated by Carmike Cinemas as a rundown $1.00 house, burning up lease obligations, it was saved from closure in 1993. It was converted to a Cinema Cafe with updated projection and sound systems. It is a local favorite.

We were so excited to find out about this place on the Internet. We figured our 3 year old son would finally enjoy a movie if he had a meal along with it. Unfortunately we didn’t know that this place catered mainly to birthday parties. As per the web site’s advice, we arrived early to make sure we got tickets. When they opened the doors 30 minutes before showtime, we had already been waiting 30 minutes to get in. They started seating the birthday party guests and didn’t really care about the handful of people who had purchased tickets but weren’t with a birthday party. Finally they told us to go in but only the very front row of the theater was available, because all of the other seats had been given to the party guests. We also noticed that all of the party guests already had popcorn and drinks. We waited another 20 minutes and weren’t even brought our drinks yet. We decided to get our money refunded and leave.

I would only recommend this to people who want to have their kids' birthday party there…it seems they do a good job with that. But if you’re a regular patron, stay away. You will be summarily ignored and relegated to the worse seats.

I have been to this theatre a few times and it is a GREAT place to watch the Super Bowl, but the pop corn is VILE!!!! The last time I was there was in 2000, so it might be different, but the pop corn was not in a tub, it was served in a basket and covered in that awful butter flavored seasoning salt.

The Falls Twin was never a Cineplex Odeon. Martin Theatres owned this theatre before Carmike bought the entire Martin chain in 1982.

Opened on December 21,1977 as the Fitzgerald Screening Room that consisted of two auditoriums seating 300(which had a total of 150 seats each in both auditoriums).

Martin Theatres acquired this theatre in mid-1978 as renamed it the Falls Twin Theatres. Carmike Cinemas acquired it in 1982 after Carmike bought out all of the Martin Theatre chains. By 1988,the Falls Twin Theatres went from showing first-run features to showing second-run discount films under Carmike Cinemas which closed it in 1994. The Falls Twin Theatres sat vacant for three years until 1997 when a local independent theatre chain bought the whole theatre and refurnished it under its new name The Raleighwood Cinema Grill.
