Farewell to Alameda Plaza Triplex

The Alameda Plaza Triplex opened on November 10, 1976. It was operated by Mann Theatres with seating provided for 220 in each auditorium. Carmike Cinemas took over operations of the theatre in 1995. It closed in 2005 due to the opening of Pineridge 10 Cinemas.

It was demolished in August 2012.

My friend and I worked for Mann in this part of the state as projectionists. He was the first projectionist for this small tri-plex. I remember the opening night that December of 1976 (seat count is way off…each house held 220 seats..). I worked there on a part-time relief basis until 1979 when my friend left the Alameda for other ventures.. Bit of a fun working here..

I am sad to report that as of August 17, 2012, the Alameda Plaza Triplex is no more. It has been demolished to make way for a Winco Foods store.
