The Lyric Theatre opened on November 25th, 1915. Emery J. Miller of Fitzpatrick, McElroy & Company leased the building which was erected by Gus Kitzinger. Charles Anderson was the contractor. Fitzpatrick & McElroy owned their own theatre chain with theatres in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin as both a moving picture and vaudeville theatre. On June 16th 1916 they started using their newly installed pipe organ.

By 1941 it was owned by the Butterfield Michigan Theaters Co.

The theatre closed on March 13, 1954.

The building is now a Salvation Army community center.
