Built in 1931 as the 950-seat Kiva Theatre. Later renamed State Theatre, it was closed and undergoing renovation/restoration in 2007.
It has since reopened as the Bourbon Theatre, presenting concerts and live performances. It is equipped to play video projections in HD, Blu Ray, DVD and film in 35mm format on a 35 feet wide screen.
There is now a standing capacity for 637, and a seating capacity for 300.

I guess it was closed for the holidays.
That’s a different website Mike. For some reason the new website is hosted on a myspace page. Maybe it’s only a temporary site.
On the Myspace the last movie that I found was from Nov. 9 of last year. So is it stil open?
Chuck….The movie from last November could have been the last movie to play here. The State Theater closed in November of 2008 according to this article.

Cool picture from 1983!! Only a year after I was born! I remember this place as “Studio 14” dance club about 10 years ago. That place was a blast!!!
