The Lincoln Grand opened on November 20, 2004 and was covered in the Lincoln Journal Star. 3,200 seats make up the 14-screen complex with the largest auditorium seating 425. The total cost was $15 million with the city contributing $3.25 million.
November 19, 2004, was the last day for Douglas’ other three downtown theaters, the Cinema Twin, the Douglas 3 and the Plaza 4, but the opening of the Grand insured that there were 400 more seats downtown.
In March of 2008 the $40.5 million sale of Douglas theatres to the Marcus Corporation was announced.
