The Summerville Theater was built around 1935 and operated as a 418 seat capacity movie theater into the early-1960’s. In 1976 the building was renovated and opened as the James F. Dean Community Theatre, home of the Flowertown Players.

This is one of those theaters that looks better today than it did twenty five years ago.
No doubt about that the 1981 photo looks like something out of a horror movie. It looks bright and cheery today.
