The Strand Theatre was the larger of two theatres in the 800 block of Scott Avenue facing SE. It was part of the Paramount-affiliated Interstate Circuit, along with the Gem Theatre, Majestic Theatre, State Theatre, Tower Theatre, and Wichita Theatre. The Strand Theatre was destroyed by fire on March 5, 1954.

It was rebuilt and operated by Trans-Texas Theatres. It was closed in 1979.

The Strand was not an Interstate theater. It was Trans Texas. It was an art house in 1969 when I saw Darling and Belle du Jour during the summer.

My dad worked at the Strand for more than 25yrs I would love to see more photos if anyone has them

Many memories of going to the Strand when I was a kid in early 70’s. I remember the manager.
