One of three theaters in Carlinville, along with the Marvel Theatre and the Diane Drive-In, which was once part of the Frisina Amusement Company chain.
It opened in 1911 as the Landale Theatre, later being renamed Grand Theatre offering movies and stage plays. The Grand closed in 1920 when the Marvel Theatre opened but briefly reopened in 1927 to 1928 when the Marvel Theatre burned down.
In 1940 it was converted into a bowling alley which closed in 1960. The front of the building is now in use as law offices.
