The Argonne Theater opened on January 18, 1922 and was an African American movie theatre. The theatre had an ornamental facade of white glazed brick. It was a single story building with seating on one floor. There was a small stage which was used for occasional live performances, but these ceased in 1942 and went over to movies full-time. It was renamed the New Goldfield Theater in 1926, sometimes advertised as the Goldfield Theater and continued until closing in the early 1960’s.
After being used as a church for several years, it was abandoned and then later demolished soon after 1972.
