Cinema 4 Fontane

The Cinema Quattro Fontane was originally a single screen cinema, with seating in orchestra and balcony levels. It possibly opened in the 1950’s, although the building it is located in is much older. There is hardly any street presence, with only a small glass sign mounted flush to the building, with the name ‘4 Fontane’ and current attractions titles over the entrance doors.

Inside the foyer, the walls are treated with a curved polished wood finish and there is an old projectore standing close to the entance door. There is a cafe/bar in the main inner foyer. Now converted into 4-screens with seating for 330, 205, 125 and 66, it is operated by the Circuito Cinema chain and is part of the Europa Cinemas Group. It is considered Rome’s major art house cinema.

I went to see the film “Ma quando arrivano le ragazze?” by Pupi Avati here on March 7, 2005. Forgettable.
